This page is where I will talk about causes and campaigns that I think are worth a moment of all our time. The first item was Diabetes (and will continue to be covered). I wanted to give everyone an idea picture of how my daily life is effected and discuss topics surrounding this growing disease. Also I am asking that you click on the sponsor link, to the right, if you can contribute to my participation in the "Step Out to Fight Diabetes" event that took place on October 28th in Bridgewater, NJ. While the event has passed, funds can be contributed till the end of the month.

A little about Diabetes....(from the ADA site)

Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. The cause of diabetes continues to be a mystery, although both genetics and environmental factors such as obesity and lack of exercise appear to play roles.

There are 20.8 million children and adults in the United States, or 7% of the population, who have diabetes. While an estimated 14.6 million have been diagnosed with diabetes, unfortunately, 6.2 million people (or nearly one-third) are unaware that they have the disease.

In the meantime, check out the ADA website.
